These days there are toxins everywhere, far more that when I was a kid. It's not just in food (I try hard not to buy food that has numbers in the ingredients, and I grow some of my own food), it's also in products such as perfumes, air sprays, cleaning products and things that are supposed to protect us like sunscreen. I stopped using deodorant with aluminium over 20 years ago, I spray perfume on my clothes not on my skin (so to protect my immune system and organs form having to break down toxins), and I avoid synthetic fragrances in my home.
These days, 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer, and men are susceptible too. I suspect some anti perspirants or lifestyle products could be to blame, as there are women absorbing parabens through products used on their scalp and skin. It's really important to look at ingredients of products. I've changed my toothpaste type and reduced creams and beauty products in the last 5 years, preferring to improve my diet to ensure my skin is nourished from the inside out. I used to only wear make up when I went out, and hardly have put it on at all in the last 3 years. However, I was one of those lazy people who wouldn't diligently remove make up at the end of the night, it would come off in the next shower!
Trying to stop aging is ultimately a waste of time. Engaging in procedures such as botox (aaah, it's made from toxin/bacteria) or cosmetic surgery is only delaying the inevitable. Best to love yourself as you age and find out the root cause as to why you are feeling insecure about the way you look. Social media and the entertainment industry doesn't help. The characters in Sex in the City (the most recent movie released) were all older than the characters in The Golden Girls! In 30 years the expectations of how a woman should look at a certain age has really changed. Of course everyone wants to look and feel good, and no-one wants to be deemed frumpy or undesirable, but whatever you do, it should be for yourself, not other's approval.
We all have a chronological (birth date), biological (body organs) and psychological (mind set) age. Don't try to fight aging, defy it. Eat healthily, keep active and tell yourself you're hot and sexy on a daily basis! As long as consumers keep buying toxic products they will continue to be made. Embrace clean living and love yourself as you are. When hope dies, old age runs to meet you! Be kind to your body - it's the only one you've got.
